Some models are equipped with weapons that allow them to make a 'supporting attack'. To make a supporting attack, a model must be directly behind a friendly model that is itself in a fighting rank. However, supporting attacks cannot be made to a unit's flank or rear, nor can they be made by a model that is itself in a fighting rank.
