Characters may only join a unit of Skirmishers if they are of the same sub-category of troop type. For example, a character whose troop type is light cavalry could join a unit of Skirmishers that are also light cavalry, but could not join a unit of Skirmishers that are heavy cavalry. This is an exception to the normal rules for characters joining units.
