Wasteland Terrain Generator
URL Copied!

This terrain generator represents the barren wilderness that stretches from the walls of Marienburg to the shores of the Sea of Claws. It is a windswept and inhospitable place supposedly home to tribes of Orcs, Goblins, Trolls and worse, and only sparsely inhabited by the civilised folk of the Empire.

In this wilderness, the landscape varies greatly. Shifting dunes dominate the coast of the Manaansport Sea, giving way inland to saltwater bogs and mist-shrouded moors. When armies march into the Wasteland, they do so with caution lest they be brought to battle in unfavourable terrain. Tales are told amongst the ranks of Westerland's armies of whole regiments drowning in the salty waters of hidden bogs, or becoming lost upon the endless moors when sudden fog rolls in from the sea.

Shallow Stream: A shallow stream meanders through the battlefield. A shallow stream is a narrow linear terrain feature that counts as difficult terrain. Every 12" section must include either a 3" section of rocky rapids (dangerous terrain) or a ford.

3

Track: A track is a narrow linear terrain feature. Tracks are likely to be heavily rutted and full of potholes. Whilst most of their length counts as a well-maintained road, every 12" section of a track must also include a 3" section of difficult terrain.

4

Woods: The Tumble Downs are littered with windswept woodlands. Woods may count as either difficult or dangerous terrain.

5

Hill: The many low hills of the Tumble Downs are what gives the region its name. A hill may feature one rock-strewn slope, which counts as either difficult or dangerous terrain.

6

Marsh: Areas of wetland dominated by tall grasses can be found throughout the Wasteland, wherever rivers, streams and lakes meet dry ground. A marsh counts as difficult terrain.

7

Saltwater Bog: In the Wasteland, solid ground can quickly become a bottomless mire. A saltwater bog counts as dangerous terrain. However, any model that begins its movement within, passes through, or ends its movement within a saltwater bog will suffer a mishap on a roll of 1-2 (rather than the usual 1).

8

Fen: A fen is an area of reed-filled wetland, dead trees and stagnant pools of water. A fen counts as difficult terrain.

9

Scrubland: An area of rocky and uneven ground on which grows tangled scrub, thorn bushes and stunted trees. Scrubland is a type of wood and may be classed as either difficult or dangerous terrain.

10

Standing Ruins: The Wasteland is scattered with the ruins of the past. Standing ruins are an area of difficult terrain within an enclosure measuring no more than 12" along its longest side. At least two edges of the enclosure must be bordered by a low linear obstacle.

11

Fishing Village: A fishing village consists of a single building measuring between no more than 6" along its longest side and an enclosure measuring no more than 9" along its longest side. At least three edges of the enclosure must be bordered by a low linear obstacle.

12

Sand Dune: Sand dunes are gently sloping hills of wind-blown sand that can rise to great heights. Because they consist entirely of deep and shifting sand, a sand dune counts as difficult terrain.
