The Weisnicht Bridge
URL Copied!

River crossings are often the sites of significant battles when armies march to war. When Orc and Goblin raiders led L by Drazgog Skullsmasha invaded Axe Bite Pass, it was at the Weisnicht bridge, spanning the River Schilder, that Sergeant Anselm Kemp of the Empire fought the Ore Boss Ritzog in single combat, slowing the Orc advance and buying his comrades time to form their battlelines.

Attacker & Defender

To best represent the events that unfolded in Axe Bite Pass, the attacker should field Waaagh! Drazgog, and the defender should field the Helmgart Wardens. Alternatively, the players may use a different example muster list, or they may write their own using armies of their choosing.

Set-up

Place terrain as described. In addition, place a river measuring between 3" and 6" wide along the centre of the battlefield. A river is dangerous terrain. At the centre of the battlefield, as shown on the map below, a bridge or ford (open ground) no wider than 8" spans the river.

Deployment

Starting with the attacker, players deploy using the alternating deployment method.

First Turn

In this scenario, which player takes the first turn is determined by the The Ambush of Bel-Cedas' scenario special rule.

Game Length

The battle will last for five rounds, or until one side concedes.

Victory!

Once the battle has ended, use Victory Points to determine the winner.

Scenario Special Rules

Clash of Steel: Before the first turn, both players must nominate any one model with a Wounds characteristic of 1, and whose troop type is infantry or cavalry, from within their army to fight in a duel. The chosen combatants are placed in base contact with one another in the centre of the bridge (or ford) and fight as many rounds of combat as necessary to determine a victor. Once a victor has been determined, that model is returned to its unit and its controlling player takes the first turn. If both champions are slain, the players must roll-off as normal. The loser is slain and removed from play.

Note that if a Bretonnian army wins the duel, it counts as having prayed for the Blessings of the Lady.
